Remove Vocals from a Video

Remove vocals from video files in your browser: upload a clip and we'll pull out its soundtrack, then split it into an instrumental without vocals and a separate vocal track you can download as audio.

Already separated by our AI — drag Vocals down to hear the instrumental, or Music down to hear the voice on its own.“Love Songs” performed by Daryl Braithwaite, recorded by MEMO Music Hall, licensed CC BY 3.0. 16-second excerpt.

How it works

  1. Upload an MP4, MOV, M4V, WEBM video up to 100 MB and 10 minutes.
  2. We extract the audio track from the video automatically.
  3. The AI model separates the singing from the music.
  4. Preview both tracks, then download the instrumental or the vocals as MP3.

What you get from a video

The results are audio files, not a new video. You get the soundtrack without vocals and the vocals on their own. To put the instrumental back under your footage, drop it onto the video timeline in any editor — CapCut, iMovie, Premiere or DaVinci Resolve — and mute the original clip's audio.

Because the model separates singing voices from music, it works best on music videos, performance clips, covers and karaoke recordings. On vlogs and interviews it treats speech as “vocals” too, so you'll get the speech in one track and the background music in the other.

Getting a clean result from video

Video soundtracks are often more compressed than the original song, so a few habits help:

  • Use the original export from your camera or editor, not a re-download from a social platform, which is usually heavily compressed.
  • Trim the clip to the part you need before uploading — shorter files upload faster and stay within the size limit.
  • Phone videos can exceed 100 MB quickly. If yours is too large, export the audio only (most editors can save an M4A or MP3) and upload that instead.
  • Live recordings with crowd noise or room echo carry that sound into both tracks.

How to remove vocals from video and put the music back

Most people who remove vocals from video want the clip back with music but no singing. Here's the quickest way to do it with a free editor:

  • Download the Instrumental track as MP3 once the separation finishes.
  • Open your original video in CapCut, iMovie, Premiere or DaVinci Resolve.
  • Mute or detach the clip's original audio.
  • Drag the instrumental onto the audio track and line it up with the start of the clip. Because it comes from the same file, it stays in sync for the whole length.
  • Export the video. If you want a quiet guide vocal, add the Vocals track at a low volume as well.

Common uses

Creators remove vocals from a video to reuse the backing music under their own voice-over, singers grab the instrumental from a performance clip to practise, and editors isolate the vocal from a clip to fix the mix. Make sure you have the rights to the music you're working with — separating it doesn't change who owns it.

Frequently asked questions

Do I get a video file back?

No. You get two audio files — the instrumental and the vocals. Put the instrumental back under your footage in a video editor to make a version without singing.

Can I paste a YouTube or TikTok link?

No. We only process files you upload. Use a video you made or have permission to edit.

Why is my video rejected as too large?

Uploads are limited to 100 MB. Trim the clip, export at a lower resolution, or export just the audio track and upload that.

Will it remove someone talking instead of singing?

Usually, yes — speech is separated into the vocal track along with singing. If you want to keep the dialogue and drop the background music instead, download the Vocals track: that's where the speech ends up.
